Smile Design West London

Smile design is a holistic look at the position, colour and shape of the teeth, contour of the gums and fullness of the lips. All of these components can be altered to produce a beautiful smile which will increase self-confidence, self-esteem and in some cases can be completely life-changing.

First impressions often count when meeting new people. It is well documented that the smile is one of the most memorable and endearing features of a persons face.

A large part of this is the teeth which form the smile framed by the lips.

Often the teeth may be misaligned, discoloured or worn resulting in unevenness and a less aesthetically pleasing smile.

Smile Design Treatments

The smile can be enhanced in 4 main ways.

  1. Teeth straightening is a non-invasive way of aligning teeth that have drifted out of position. There are several systems available, ranging from clear aligner style braces to fixed wire systems. The appropriate system depends on the amount of movement required, patient lifestyle and cost. The main advantage of orthodontic correction is that the teeth are not damaged by filing away enamel.
  2. Teeth whitening is a very safe and popular way of brightening the smile. This is usually done before composite bonding or after the completion of teeth straightening treatments to complement the newly straightened teeth.
  3. Dental Veneers are the best choice if the patient requires a faster result with optimum aesthetics. This approach can achieve a perfect smile. It does, however, involve some filing away of the teeth to make room for ceramic laminates which are custom made by a specialist lab and then bonded on to the teeth to give a brand new smile. The results often surpass the patient’s expectations.
  4. Composite bonding is essentially repairing or touching up broken, chipped or worn teeth with colour coded filling material which restores the original appearance of the tooth giving a more youthful look. There is little if any drilling of the tooth involved and can often be done without an anaesthetic injection.

In some cases, the patient may require a combination of the techniques mentioned above to achieve their desired result. Our dentists will carefully plan each stage of the treatment making sure that you are fully involved in the decision making.
